Hi so this is V and I’ve had her for about 3 months I’m wondering how to go about getting her to be more standing tall? Do I repot her? She’s still in the same pot as I got her in and is doing well I think… Also do you wear gloves? Best tips? Soil? Pot size?
If you can in your area (aka just do some research abt it) I’d put your vft outside since it’ll do way better. Right now it looks very etiolated which means it’s growing too long and isn’t getting enough light. You can keep it in its same pot, they can get surprisingly crowded before needing to be repotted (pic is an example of mine).
Hey, Ryan. Mine was looking similar to yours but since it’s in an inside window sill it was getting fed houseflies often, so eventually there were many dead and discolored ends. I decided to cut them off. The VFT didn’t seem to mind and it continues to produce new traps, so I guess it’s ok that I did that, maybe? I notice you have yours still there, though not as many as mine when I “cleaned it”. Thoughts?
1 gilla I’d rather ask then just to do research. I’ve found sometimes it’s easier to ask the experts. It actually started to die when i put it outside so I had to bring it back in. It was under a grow light in my old apartment but I thought it would like some sunlight inside so I moved it to the most sunny spot. Idk if that is because I also had a very massive move 2000+ and all my plants have been indoors until the move.
1 gilla I’ll give it another go and see if they perk up but they’ve been kinda droopy from birth this was when I first got my vft she was just a Walmart one but the healthiest I could find.
What could’ve happened as to when you brought it outside is: 1. Maybe it was a big humidity change? 2. If it was out in full sun immediately it could’ve been burnt since more exposure to the sun should be gradual 3. Temperatures outside might’ve been super hot and stressed the plant 4. Outside if you didn’t have it in a dish on distilled water it may have dried out • Basically what i’m saying is gradually introduce it outside, just do an hour at a time in a shadier spot one day then bring it back inside, and increase by an hour per day in the shady spot then after you’ve had it be out for 5 hours at a time then you could leave it outside since it’ll be fully acclimated. Then, slowly move it more and more into full sun unless your sun is very intense.
