I'm hoping someone can give the words to use when I ask for a refund. This drosera capensis arrived yesterday in the condition you see in the plastic wrap. The other pictures were taken just now, about 28 hours after planting into carnivorous soil with sphagnum on top. I sent the first pic to the seller yesterday to ask if it was alive and he sent me instructions for what to do if I forget to water it. So I asked again and he told me to send him a picture of the roots but his instructions very explicitly said NOT to remove the soil around the roots. I'm waiting for him to verify that sending him a picture of the roots won't kill my chances of getting a refund. What should I say? Obviously, this is not acceptable. Thanks for your help.

    I would either ask Chat or say something along the lines of “Evidently this plant did not survive the travel from your facility to my home, and despite following your instructions, it failed to survive. I hope you could provide a replacement plant or a refund.” This would be as stern as I would get without making the business owner upset. I hope they’re agreeable! Asking Chat to make a revised version of that might be good too.

      I started with something like that and they wanted me to verify that it's dead. I'll try again. Thank you.

      Haha. I seriously lack patience. That refund is still in question though so I'm trying not to mess that up. In my head, I've cussed him out many times. Haha

    If you’re on etsy, I’m sure they’ll give you a refund or replacement, I’m just curious where you bought this sundew from though, it doesn’t look like they have great shipping methods.

      Green Escape on Etsy. It had that polyfill stuff shoved into the leaves and it was wrapped in paper and taped - nothing with rigidity, just paper. 😢

      I ordered from them on Palmstreet but mine arrived okay I wasn’t thrilled with the condition but it seems to have snapped out of it

    Update - Today they went back on saying they wanted to see the roots, saying I should leave them alone per their previous instructions. They asked for a new pic of the plant then offered me a replacement or a refund. I chose refund.

    Oh, and I ordered a new one from California Carnivores (for less money). It will arrive in June.
