Hi! I was looking to get into keeping carnivorous plants. Any tips? Any good beginner carnivorous plants? They’re really cool to me

    The book the savage garden revised addition is gonna be your best friend. You can either do what I do borrow it constantly from the library or buy it. Sundew are very good starters.

    Start with flytraps or butterworts, then gradually go into pitchers. Pitchers are the most temperamental in my experience. Cold drafts turn them black and they need high humidity. I use humidity domes and a seed warming mat for my carnivores but they can thrive without it. Just make sure to mist and don’t let them get too cold or dry out.

    It varies wildly if you are growing them outdoors or indoors on which one is a good starter. I personally only grow mine outdoors. In that case Sarracenia Pitcher Plant and Venus Flytraps are extremely easy but indoors I would suggest Sundew or Venus Flytrap.
