I got my Venus fly trap about a week ago and I'm unsure how exactly I'm supposed to care for it. I know that they are bog plants which means they love water and I've seen people online say to leave them in water for humidity reasons. But, do I have to fertilize? Planta says no but, I don't think she's catching the flies she needs.
Make sure to use distillate water as well as keep her in bright light.

You shouldn’t fertilize. If you don’t think she’s getting enough by catching flies you can give a small amount of blood worms once a month. Just to a few traps. Traps only close a few times each before they die. Also most will turn the mouths of their traps red when they are getting enough light. It really needs to be under very bright light or very close to the light itself.

Fertilizing is a sure way to kill you VFT quickly. Poor soil conditions (sphag moss and perlite or you can buy a special carnivorous blend) and don’t let it dry out ever. BRIGHT light. The brightest you can get it

Only use plastic planters, any glass or ceramic pots will leach into the soil. Also use a water tray to monitor how much water it's drinking.
