Iāve had my vft for 2 weeks now and I think sheās adjusting nicely thank you for advice āØ Iāve heard of people doing a flush every 2 weeks? Is that okay if I just repotted? does temp matter? A before and after. Any advice is appreciatedš
Hey good job! Looks like it has some baby leaves! I can only really give you standard advice Iām sure youāve heard before like keep the pot in a cup of distilled or rain water thatās always full, never let it dry out, give it more light than you think possible, and donāt forget to freeze it in the winter. Typically forgetting they need a hard freeze is where people mess up, but you still have some time until then! Remember they donāt need to be repotted often, they need soil with no nutrients in it, and itās okay if they donāt catch anything, they still photosynthesize like any other plant. Iāve heard some people say the leaves reopen after they catch something, thatās not true. They almost always just die. Donāt worry though, itās supposed to, itāll give you new leaves. You can also put it in a sunny spot outside so it can catch something if theres no buggies in the house, just remember to bring it inside before dark. Iām sure Iāve forgotten some rules, but I have faith someone will correct me on it lol. Nice job with the flytrap!
2 gillningar Thank you I do keep it sitting in distilled water at all times and will probably ask again about going dormant. But I donāt need to flush the soil?

second you on almost everything! the traps will reopen, they should able to catch and recatch a few times before dying, which is why you want to avoid setting the traps off when you're not feeding :)

Youād only need to flush the soil if you were watering with something besides distilled water

1 gilla Oh thatās interesting! Every time mine catches something the leaf just dies. I think I might be able to blame my friend for that though since he pokes them into closing every time heās over.
