c.cathi! it could be going dormant, but I think it would need to be a little colder than inside temps for it to do so. some more care info could help - are you using distilled water? is the inside of the pot glazed or not?

thank u!! it's currently in 62-65 degrees fahrenheit, the inside is glazed, and i'm using filtered brita water 🫶🫶

no prob! given its pretty warm, and VFTs need a few days of 40 degree weather to go dormant, i think its something else thats troubling your plant. to start, trim off the black traps, they wont be doing anything. if you are able, i would switch to distilled, rain or RO water - i dont think the brita filters out the minerals found in tap and im not sure how well it does at removing the chemicals (chlorine/chloramine) either. these will kill your plant, as carnivorous plants are found in bogs, where the water is pretty pure. you could get the filtered water tested to see how much stuff it contains; the water should idealy have less than 50ppm of minerals in it. also, what kind of substrate is it in? is that green moss just a soil topper? if it is, i would remove it, and if thats what its planted in, repot it asap. use either natural sphagnum moss or a carnivorous mix - i imagine the paint on the stuff you have right now cant be good for your little guy. hope this helps!!
