Hi everyone. Iā€™ve crossed over to the carnivorous side lol. Just got my Pings in the mail today and Iā€™m super excited. Spent a couple hours videoing what to do with them and came up with making this. Itā€™s an old glass candle jar. Also, rescued a Venus fly trap from Walmart. I put it in water and itā€™s already doing so much better but if anyone has any suggestions, Iā€™m not well versed on Venus flytraps yet and havenā€™t had the time to look into videos for care yet. Thanks!

    hi! heres some basic VFT info to get you started - sarracenia northwest has lots of good info, i highly recommend checking them out! - they need LOTS of direct light - only use distilled/rain/RO water; anything 'contaminating' the water (chemicals, fertilizer) will burn and eventually kill your plant! - theyre best kept in a carni mix or sphagnum moss in a nursery pot that is sitting in a 1-2 in deep tray of water! - theyre bog plants, and like to be kept consistantly moist - i reccomend only feeding live insects, only feed 1 trap, about once a month! hope this helps!

      Thank you! Do you recommend that I repot it since I got it from Walmart? It has the almost fake green mossy look on the top of whatever potting medium itā€™s in.

      yea, i would repot or at least remove the fake moss if its just a layer covering the medium!

    Cute! The big thing is keeping moist and high light. Both pings and Venus can and like to go dormant in winter. Pings have a succulent phase during this, where less water is needed. So you may want to research that. Rainbow Carnivores and California Carnivores has some great info on site and their IG and youtubes. For the VFT, if you feed it, don't feed the same trap, they only have about 3 closures in them before they die. And Distilled, RO, or rainwater only

      Thank you! I didnā€™t know that. I thought once it closed it died lol. I actually saw a video with both rainbow carnivores and California on Pings, and saved their info cuz I saw they had a lot more videos! Especially on all different kinds. Pretty excited lol

      No, once they finish digesting they will open back up. But sometimes I'll see people only feed the same trap, so it dies after a few feeds, then they're concerned. But it's natural. They also look like hell when they go dormant! šŸ‘€. I don't have my dumplings outside because the seller had them indoors. But i do give them dormancy by putting them in a colder room and lowering light they get. They do do very well outside with the sarracenia. Yes! They have tons of stuff to watch
