Hello :) this is a purple pitcher plant I received as a gift but I think something is wrong :( I water her with distilled water and I feed her as well not often but I do feed her. I was wondering why the leaves are turning brown. Could it be that she needs more sunlight? Or a different pot? I don’t use fertilizer or anything like that so I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any advice and suggestions are welcomed 💕
What substrate is it in (soil, moss, etc)? Have you checked the roots?
1 like I actually have not and I think it’s both soil and moss. Could that be it?
1 like Yeah that could be an issue. Pitcher plants should be planted in sphagnum moss only; soil can kill them

Sarrs live in half peat moss half perlite- this looks like it could be peat I don’t think that’s the issue here, I don’t think it’s getting enough light. What do you mean by feed it? just dropping bugs in occasionally?
2 likes Yesss when I catch a fly in my house I’ll drop it in lol and I agree with u. I put it under a sunny window and it looks a little better and i took it out of the pot to check the roots and they smelled a little. I think I’m over watering

I think light is definitely part of the issue, I would put it outside if possible (harden it off if doing so), but if not I would put it under a grow light or the sunniest window you have. Additionally, use the tray method if you aren’t already, put it on a saucer with distilled water in it all the time.
