is my venus fly trap too far gone the traps that withered weren't able to close on food and the sphagnum moss keeps creating mold from the moisture

    Give it a ton of light (growlight or very sunny spot) you may save it yet!

      it looks like it's trying to flower to should i cut off the stem? also what should i do about the mold growing in the moss

    you probably should cut the flower stalk off, but i would maybe wait a little to be 100% sure its not a new leaf. def cut off any black leaves tho. about the mold, it could be poor air flow, but im not too sure. you could repot into some new moss, or spray with 1:1 hydrogen peroxide&water solution. i think you could probably bring this guy back with some TLC. as FriendofVeg said, it needs a lot more light. VTFs need AT LEAST 6 hours of direct sunlight or being under a good grow light in order to do well. if you are interested in grow lights, Barrina on amazon has some good lights for around 20 bucks, depending on what you get. make sure youre using distilled/RO/rain water - tap or anything with chemicals or nutrients in it will burn the plant and kill it. i hope youre able to revive this guy, hope this helps & good luck!!

      i've gone through three sadly they never survive my dorm so i feel the air ventilation is just not good enough

      IMPORTANT TIP: check the root ball of the plant. A lot of times there are shipped in these woven plugs that make it hard for the roots to grow. Hoping he makes it through the winter!

    I've never had VSP, but don't they go dormant and need time in dark damp places?

      i've never seen one survive long enough to go dormant also i don't really understand the whole dormancy thing

    If you're in a dorm use a good grow light, distilled water, and at the end of November take them out with fresh spagnum moss and place them in a zip lock bag. Put them in a fridge and let them go dormant, take them out of dormancy around mid march. Venus flytraps are really resilient as long as you take good care of them they will come back.

      but the state it's in will it be able to bounce back if i leave it in the fridge ?

    Yes I've done it with mine and they are all rescue flytraps from Walmart, Lowes and home depot.

    It’s probably just dormant like mine are. They don’t need a lot of water but they do need a cold spot to sit. Some people put them in the fridge for a few months. Mine are outside 24/7 but I live where they grow wild on the Carolina coast.

    And they won’t die without traps because they can photosynthesis with their leaves and the heart is under the surface in rhizomes and as long as that part is good it will survive. You can also keep it in a small fish tank with a clamp lamp if you’re lacking a good window
