Got a baby Venus flytrap today! Excited because I finally know how to take care of one! Any tips are much appreciated!

    Zone 8a here. I keep mine outdoors facing east. Into the garage for winter

      I googled, “Venus flytraps are temperate plants and require a winter dormancy period from October to February, during which they stop actively growing.” Does that sound about right? I’m worried how it will get sun though.

      I put mine in the garage when temperatures are consistently around 40 degrees F in an east facing window. Bring back outdoors when temps about the same in the spring.

      You can get relatively inexpensive grow lights on amazon. Can be put on a timer. This is my set up for most of my pings and sundews.

    I agree they should have lots of light and distilled or regular rain water. I’ve read tap water isn’t good for them.

    People keep telling me not use any vase that doesn’t have any sort of minerals that could potentially cause it to die. Plastic and glazed pots! Hmmm… I hope to see more comments so we both learn lol.

      I use all plastic or glazed. No terra cotta.
