Super stoked that an order from amazon finally came in good condition, how long should i wait before i feed her? Also Planta doesn’t have a Red Dragon variety? Is it just the same as Dionaea Muscipula?

Wow it’s in great condition but you shouldn’t worry about feeding until after any travel shock has chilled. You can leave in sitting in about 1/4 inch distilled water. Unlike the nepenthes this is a bog plant so takes a lot of water and just as much if not more light. Humidity is less of a factor here unless it’s coming from a highly humid environment. Dionaea differ from nepenthes a lot, but they live in the similar conditions to sarracenia so they’re supposed to be in dormancy right now. Because it doesn’t appear to have arrived in dormancy I wouldn’t do anything in drastic, just place it in a shallow dish of distilled water in your brightest window and don’t worry about feeding it for a couple of months. It looks like you’re starting a collection, so just keep in mind, though some people like to put them all together some of them have very different needs. I really highly suggest the book “savage garden” by Peter D’Amato. It’s an incredible resource for beginning and experienced carnivorous plant growers alike and was suggested to me when I just started out my nepenthes rescue five years ago. You can reach out to me @nepenthomancer on ig if you have any questions related to carnivores and if I can’t help I can definitely point you in the right direction. There’s a lot of misinformation about them floating around so it’s not a bad idea to use carnivorous plant resource. com. I think it’s a misconception that the plants need to start eating bugs immediately and often and that can just kill of traps if done wrong. Make sure your light is strong, and your water and substrate are less than 60ppm and you should be good for a while!

Wow beautiful! I’m so glad you like the book too, the person who inspired me to start keeping carnivorous plants suggested it to me and it’s something I’ve seen people from all parts of the carnivorous plant community enjoy and refer to which is really cool I think. Something we all share together along with our love of this wild plants. :D
