This is a really resilient cross, a great choice for beginners. Good job on bagging it, that will help it keep pitchers while recovering from travel stress. 💙

I spent all day setting up a terrarium for her yesterday. Now I’m trying to learn the temperature and humidity she’ll need to be happy. Also what to feed her cuz she’s so tiny. I have Osmocote, Orchid spray, fish emulsion and seaweed solution, and dried bloodworms 😁 Any suggestions?

It’s too small for any of those really except for seaweed solution you can dilute and spray weekly. If you start feeding pitchers too early in their development they will rot, they are so easy to over feed which will also kill the pitcher especially so young. I would just chill on that and maybe add a drop of seaweed solution once a pitcher is at least a month old. They do not need to be fertilized or eat at all to survive. Focus mostly on giving the correct water and light.

Another thing is, because none of those pitchers are new and arrived empty, they have no digestive fluid in them. Even if you added a tiny bit of distilled water to the pitchers (suggested, to keep them from drying out) that water will never be replaced as the digestive fluid is only made when the pitcher is being formed so it would have a very hard time breaking down any solid items. Wait until a pitcher opens for you, has fluid in it, and is mature, to even try solids. I don’t start feeding pitchers manually until they’re already on their way out with age and then I can over feed them without worry and the plant can get a lot out of it but you are far away from that time yet. Don’t risk stressing it right now, you got this! 💙

Oh and Mimi’s kiss is intermediate but likes temperatures a bit higher than a highland plant. It’s likely to still be in shock from transfer so expect growth for another month or so even under optimal conditions. Do not let temperature or humidity drop below 55f. I suggest a cheap hygrometer off somewhere like Amazon to keep track of it. Remember, they really do love light and a windowsill might not cut in depending on where you are in the world right now. I’m here to help if you need anything!

Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom! I feel like a new mom and I don’t want to mess up. I have been doing some research on Tom’scarnivors website and I’m near Virginia Beach which is very humid most of the time except for the really cold days. I do have a thermometer/hydrometer inside the terrarium and it’s connected to my phone so it will alert me if it’s too dry or cold. I kind of figured it was too little to feed yet but I wasn’t sure. I do prefer natural when it’s appropriate. I do see a tiny embryo on the next leaf. It’s funny how much different each pitcher looks and I can’t wait to see what the next one looks like.
