I just got a Butterworts plant, it seems to be doing well! It’s caught tons of flies already, but I’d like some tips/advice on how to give it the proper care. I mist it a few times a week and I’m getting some grow lights too! Anything helps. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I’m not used to handling this plant in particular, so this will be a great help!

Please don’t mist it! It hates that because it doesn’t like getting wet leaves. I use distilled water and a little squirt bottle. You can also bottom water. I have found that lava rock and coconut coir is the soil they like the most. It’s got small, shallow roots so drainage is a must but don’t let it dry out completely before watering again. My Mexican butterworts do not go dormant. One is in my SE window and one is under a booklight Lol

I’m using a cup I saved from my fruit cup at 7-11 😀

Misting isn’t necessary, make sure you don’t get large amounts of water on the leaves. They do have a dormant “succulent” phase but it’s not necessary for their survival. Keep the medium wet.
