Hi I’m new and I bought a Venus fly trap from a store and got it for free since it’s wilting and none of the traps close is it still saveable? It looks okay I already cut all the dead ones off (btw it’s name is Pete)

maddieit wants to be constantly moist so terracotta probably isn't the best thing for it

Oh really I’ve been using peat moss and perlite? And tray method

they naturally grow in bogs so they absolutely do not like to dry out at all

i would move it to something that isn't porous and put a water tray below it so that it's constantly sitting in a bit of distilled water

Dave_opuntiafaceI read this comment and remember all the days of “what else does this thing need?” I’m a dry root guy ha. I think the carnivorous plants are so regal, but I live in negative humidity.

You know how you see these in a plastic tube at the market? They look pretty easy. However, go to an actual nursery and look for the most dank (but sunny) and (yep) boggy area. That’s where you find these ha. One local shop has a whole area like this, and it smells like a steamy reptile cage.
