Hi, so this is my first time with a baby Venus fly trap and it seems to be sick I just got it yesterday and it hasn’t been watered or fed yet (the soil/moss it’s planted in is wet) I don’t know what’s wrong and how to help I cut off the dead one but I want this little guy to thrive what do I do?!

First gonna need a shallow dish, secondly gonna need, distilled or RO or rain water. First two steps are simple place the plant in the dish and fill the dish up about 1/3-1/4 of the way with the water and only the water specifically listed one of the 3 is good. This is called bogging the plant. This plant also loves light so be sure to give it plenty of it. To trim dead foliage trim as close to the center as possible without damaging other leaves. Follow this recipe and you should see a better plant. Now for the watering only refill the dish after the water is used up and dish dry for about 1-2 days before refilling with the specified water mentioned earlier. Now also know they have a dormancy period during the winter as well so be ready for that. These plants are endemic to the northern part of the us along the eastern side. They are found naturally in nutrient deficient water and soil, accesses nutrients and minerals will burn the plant.

If your plant has heathy enough traps and are able to eat feed 1-2 traps with a soft insect about once a month. Old traps or unhealthy traps are less likely to work. Only functioning 3-5 times before the leaf is completely used. Also do not recommend removing access bug remains.
