Hi carnivorous corner! So my VFT haven’t been eating for weeks almost a month! And it is because they are not getting enough light (working on that). But should I bye carnivorous plant food? I am worried it is not getting the right amount of nutrients to thrive. I was thinking about getting this fertilizer. But do you think they need it?

Fertilizer is usually avoided, it may just be that there are no bugs nearby for it to eat. If you worried, catch a fly with some tweezers and drop it in a trap. Make sure it moves around, and if it doesn’t you can use the tweezers to to brush a trigger hair inside the trap which will cause it to close on the fly. VFT come from a boggy area with no nutrients in the substrate, which is why they catch bugs, so fertilizer can be overwhelming. Just give a it a bug you catch and it should be good ;)

Well I give them dried mealworms. They usually eat them but recently I have noticed that their hairs are indicating that they need more light. So whatever I try to feed them they refuse.

I live in Colorado. So it is rly hot and dry here. So not many flies except in the evening. So I am wondering does PetsSmart sell flies? And yes I can send a pic. I have two VFT.
