How long does it take for plants to digest their food? my pitcher plant has many little bugs inside the pitcher but none seem to really be decomposing in the digestive acid or whatever the liquid inside it is called. and i’m not really sure how venus fly traps digest their food, do i need to help it in some way? any advice would be appreciated :)

Not sure if you are already doing this… but you should be watering (distilled) inside each of the pitchers. This will help digestion.

If it’s ready it will fall out of a fly trap on its own if it’s not ready I’d suggest to not bother it it’s part of the feeding cycle it attracts more prey. Same goes for pitcher plants the bug juice helps attract more prey. You can try and drain a bit of it but do not empty completely as your taking the enzymes with it which can dilute the solution so if you do beware of that. I’m not 100 if it will re make more enzyme as well, as typically it’s formed in concentrated form and the water dilutes it. Making a solution. In essence it’s almost the same as the acid we produce which is HCl hydrochloric acid. Some pitcher plants have a symbiosis with other animals so really it depends on your cultivar.
