Last Monday my boyfriend left for vacation and I was asked to watch his dogs. I said yes and I was supposed to watch them for a week. Before I left I asked my mom if she could watch my plant and she said yes. I showed her how to take care of the plant and I gave her specific instructions. Water the plant with the distilled water I left, only fill the bowl when it’s empty, keep the plant under sunlight and no more than and inch or less of water (I even showed her the amount). She said that she had it and that I could leave the plant so I did. I asked her everyday if she was doing okay with the plant and she would say yes. Yesterday I came home and I found my plant like this… the bowl was almost completely filled up and the water was brown. The new leaves that are supposed to sprout are brown, the stem is brown, the leaves around it are brown, some are even black. And the dew drops are completely dried up.. I- I’m only mad at myself for not taking the plant with me but it is what it is. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do or what could have happened to my plant? Could it have been over watered? Or maybe she added the wrong water? I was planning on leaving it out to dry out a little bit and then adding it back into distilled water and keeping it under the sun. I hope the black and brown pieces can be saved :( most likely not.
