I haven’t updated on Pete for so long everyone probably forgot he existed! His rehab went amazing. He gets dead or starting to die traps but his new ones always come healthy so I think it’s okay, just regrowth. Looks better than ever! 🌱

    A few tips with vft; they like to be sitting in a dish of filtered or distilled water. They also love direct sunlight. If you put it outdoors in a sunny spot it’ll catch its own bugs. Each trap only closes 3-4times after that it’ll die. No fertilizer and they like peat or coir.. some kind of moisture soaking, nutrient lacking substrate.

      Wanted to add; when I repotted mine it had a black mesh pod surrounding the roots. I definitely removed it and my vft is looking so much better

      I’ve owned him for over half a year so I already knew these tips. (I did a lot of research the first bit I had him) The peat may look dry but it is not don’t worry! Under the surface is quite moist. Not trying to say your wrong or anything but from my bit of experience (researching and owning Pete) I’ve found letting them sit in a dish of water all the time is unnecessary as long as the soil doesn’t get bone dry cause the plants in their natural habitat do not sit in water, they just live on very wet soil.       Leaves are much longer than mine. Might have to do with the pot and that Pete when I got him was still just a baby. Looks good though. Where did you purchase yours??? Looks pretty good for a few months.

    yes, 100% agree!! if you arent able to let it sit in water, then just water frequently, as these kind of bog plants dont like to dry out at all. good luck!

    Overall Pete looks good! The soil looks dry but everybody else in the comments has already suggested what I would do! Good job dude!

      Don’t worry the soil isn’t dry. The very top is kinda loose so it doesn’t get very wet but if you just move it a little the dirt is far from dry!
