Is it normal for some traps to die after I feed my Venus? I just got her a few days ago and some of the other traps turned black and the rest of the plant seems wilty? I have her in sphagnum moss and perlite, I just fed her yesterday and she’s in a south facing window but I’m kinda scared it’s not enough light considering there’s a fence pretty close to my window and I have light refracting privacy film on it. So is it not enough light or the fact that I fed her?
it's completely normal for traps to die. they often only open and close three or four times before the plant kills it. learn from my mistake, put it outside. i thought my west window would be enough, but nope. started throwing petioles with no traps. i didn't have a grow light, so outside it went. zero problems since. they even feed themself outside! all i do is refill the water reservoir.

Yup traps die off regularly. As long as its still producing new ones, should not be an issue. Wait until they turn black and just snip that whole leaf off at the base. I have mine under a grow light indoors for 8 to 12 hrs and they are doing great. If a grow light is not an option, then outside is prob best. Make sure you acclimate if you take that option.
