hi!!! my ping (Pinguicula moranensis var. caudata x spec. Guatemala) has been putting out flower after flower, but it hasn’t any produced any sticky since i got it. she looks healthy and has definitely gotten bigger since i got her. it’s potted in a bog bowl with a layer of horticultural lava rocks at the bottom for drainage. potting medium is sphagnum peat moss and perlite. it is heavily watered with distilled water, but i let it dry out slightly during the winter months. i live in Jacksonville, Fl, and it is kept on a north facing window sill. does anyone know why it keeps flowering, but not producing any sticky stuff? it’s pushing on two new flowers, and has one flower right now. also, can i put a cape sundew and spoon leaf sundew in the bog bowl with the ping? thanks bunches! pics taken on my cat’s cat tree (much to her annoyance) bc it’s dark out!

    im not sure about why it keeps flowering, but maybe you could try cutting off the flowers anytime you see it budding to try to get it to focus on its leaves maybe? i feel like it might need more light as well. a west or south facing window might be better. you could also use a growlight! and yes, you should be able to put most carnivorous plants (maybe not hanging pitchers, some like to dry out a bit more) in the same pot - just make sure the lighting requirements are the same :)

    Pings go into a dormant 'succulent' phase in winter. Where they don't produce sap. If it wasn't winter, lack of sap is usually a lighting issue. Yes, you can mix sundews in the pot as well.
