Excellent choice. Super cute.

Great choice gayas are such easy growers! Youāre gonna love this plant, my gaya has nearly 30 pitchers on it right now š I know youāre not a beginner but gaya/ st gaya are the best beginner nepenthes by far.
2 gillningarBeautiful! I love the pot too š Iām still looking for pots so Iām just using clear plastic for now. Iām curious to know what you fertilize with. Iām undecided on what to use.

Okay so you know fertilizing is a very delicate thing with carnivores so be careful and LESS IS MORE! If you have an old pitcher and itās drying up/on itās way out thatās a great time to over feed them with whatever bugs you find. I will occasionally get small (already dead) dubia roaches from petco meant for lizards. (These bugs are high calcium which is good for neps) this is the only time I feed bugs because often you can accidentally over feed and end up rotting a pitcher which is no fun. Aside from that what you want to do is water once monthly with MAXSEA ACID PLANT FOOD. Mix to about 200ppm, in water thatās as close to zero ppm as possible (which is what you should be watering with already). Or 1/4 the suggested amount on the container. You can pour this all over the nepenthes and even a little bit in the pitchers. This is what Pearl River exotics does theyāre an incredible nursery and where I get a lot of my cool neps from. A little bit cheaper than Carnivero which I know youāve bought from before, but theyāre a great little greenhouse run by a couple and their toddler son so itās nice to support them.
1 gillaMAXSEA seems to be the gold standard of professional growers and the ICPS but itās expensive so I have been trying Orchid spray from Miracle Grow. I use it for my air plant so itās what I had on-hand and the npk is only .02-.02-.02. My pings like it but sundews do not. I have just done the leaves and not any pitchers. In the past Iāve put dry bloodworms in the pitchers but the last time I did that the pitcher died and I thought I did something wrong. Now I know better but Iām still hesitant. I bought some Osmocote pellets but havenāt tried it yet. Iām going to try MAXSEA next and stop letting the price get in the way. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and advice. š I have been on Pearl Riverās website and I like their inventory. I only chose Carnivero because theyāre in Texas and I live on the southeast coast of Virginia so shipping is a lot faster. I bought some pings from Mypingtopia in San Francisco and they took 10 days to get here because of the weather. Darryl was kind enough to send me a 2nd order without charge but it was so sad to see the first order of pings all melted and it took a month in total to get them. New Mexico is a little faster than California so I might try Pearl next. š

Omg I know maxsea is crazy expensive itās so frustrating I wish we lived closer and I could just give you some scoops of mine since I can only get the acid formula in huge amounts. If you have a sensitive plant do not put osmocote in the pitcher as I have heard of it burning pitchers before. If the pitcher is already on its way out donāt be afraid to over feed it. I have a friend-who uses osmocote in the substrate he just only does it every three months not often at all, and he hasnāt had any issues. I donāt keep a lot of my neps on this app because it only identifies the pretty generic ones but if you have any questions about specific cultivars and highland vs. lowland nepenthes care I am always down to help in any way I can. Are your cuttings looking any better?
1 gillaThe largest one is still producing deformed leaves but the newest one seems to be ok so far. That was the top of the plant before. The other two are putting out normal growth and looking good. I gave them each a spray of orchid food last week. I remember seeing a kit from a grower that has a small amount of MAXSEA in it and I think a dropper. Iām going to see if I can find it again. I only use the app to keep track of what I do. And the groups are great too. It would be nice to be closer to each other. But this is the next best option and Iām so grateful to you for your help. Itās been nice having a friend who loves carnivorous plants as much as I do and knows so much! š

They look really good for surviving thrips honestly thatās impressive! They probably donāt want any food right now though that might be contributing to the deformity. You could bag them for added humidity (big ziplocks) if theyāre not in a cabinet (I feel like I remember you having a cabinet set up which is great for humidity and makes sense why you want to fertilize well since they canāt catch as much) and thank you for the kind words! Iām always learning too and I love to help people learn that carnivorous plants are easier to keep than they think! š©µ
1 gillaYeah I had them in the terrarium for a while but the light was for my pings so I didnāt want to burn them and it was getting too crowded for good air circulation. The window I have them in gets really good sunlight and a humidifier. I try to keep it around 70% and I know they will be happy when it warms up and the high humidity returns. š

Found something interesting and a good price, go onto Etsy and search ātheGardenGamesā that would be the seller and the product is called āorganic carnivorous plant foodā there are other things like this on Etsy but this is the only seller Iāve seen who is a confirmed carnivorous plant grower and has a good standing in the community and some decent evidence of it working. Iām definitely going to try it for only 10$, just thought maybe youād be interested in it too on your fertilizer journey!

Wow, thank you š I can definitely afford that š I just received some new pots for the babies and they are the net ones but clear so I can watch the roots grow. Right now theyāre in just sphagnum moss in regular pots so I worry about rot plus theyāre only 2.7ā inches. The new pots are almost 5ā inches so I can add the chunky perlite and chips for better drainage.
