My plants are starting to show their enthusiasm for Spring. Buds, shoots and blooms are bringing life back from winter.

Let’s see everyone’s plant rooms! I’ll start with my place where I had to figure out moving from a perfect east facing window to grow lights and a small west facing window.

I’ve been propagating this monstera deliciosa since 12/20/22. One even popped out a new leaf! I’m guessing they’re very happy. Lol I’ll be transferring them into leca soon. Any advice? ✨

There’s so much snow where I live so I brought home some spring feeling to brighten up my day 😊 These will later be planted outside in my garden, after it has wilted. What are your favourite spring plants?

I was lucky enough to find a Hoya Krimson Princess for a really good price at a big box store. Unfortunately it had spidermites, and my go-to safe pesticides were not working on eliminating them. I was nervous to try diluted alcohol due to a past experience I had when I used it on a calathea that died after spraying it with 1:3rd 70% alcohol & water so I figured to try the next thing that everyone was suggesting: Dish soap. I picked a gentle newborn dish soap, diluted it well and to my horror it burned some of my Hoya’s leaves. I have since switched to using peppermint oil mixed with hydrogen peroxide and it seems to be doing the trick but I just wanted to put it out there for plant parents- beware of using alcohol and dish soap to get rid of pests. It sucks that it’s the first suggestion when researching how to end a spider mite infestation but they are both toxic to plants + soil even when diluted (and out of bright sun) it sucks to both loose a plant or a handful of leaves in an already stressful situation⚠️hoping my bald Hoya bounces back soon🥲

FRIDAY!! And it’s here - the weekend when this cutie, and all my other other roommates I have (except for my hubby and daughter), are going to get some new soil. Is anyone else up for the repotting challenge this weekend? 😃🪴

Does anyone else find cats in their outdoor planters? There are a few in my street’s colony that love to dig around, sit, and nap in mine. I almost don’t mind some of my plants getting squished because it’s so cute!

Just curious does anyone use self watering bulbs? Are they a good way to water plants and if so, which kind of plants would do better with them? Found some super cute ones on Etsy but don’t want to buy them if they won’t be an effective way to water

Hiya!

General tip…I’m using little pieces of pipe insulation on my small weeping ficus to “nudge” branches away from each other so their bark isn’t damaged while growing up.

Can you add a way to input starting plants from seed? The initial care schedule will be a bit different as well. Also propagation from cuttings!

Do we have any Staghorn fern fans over here? 👋🌿 I find them to be one of the most forgiving and interior friendly plants. Super easy to grow. I grow mine in epiphytic soil mix and water it on the saucer 🪴 - I also find the scientific name of this species funny: “Super bum” 😂
