Plant suggestions, please! My plant shelves are under this ancient heating contraption and I think it’s affecting some of my plants. Therefore, I’m thinking of moving some of the plants and getting new ones that won’t be as affected by the heater. Any suggestions? My snake plant is doing great even though it’s probably getting the most heat so I’m looking for similar plants that also won’t wilt/die when we turn on the heat.
Hi! So, I recently got into houseplants, and I’m looking to get another. I’d love to get something more colorful, like some sort of flower or flowering plant. The problem is I don’t have a lot of space, so it would have to be something small-medium and fairly manageable. Is there even something out there that would work? I’m looking for recommendations. Thanks!
Anyone reccomend their most rewarding plants? I'm slowly gonna cap my plant count to around 24ish [eventually] so i really want plants that satisfy that primal itch when I build my wishlist. So many look yummy but I don't know what feels nice to care for lol😋
I had to separate my Micholitziana. The new leaves were getting smaller, the big leaves were turning yellow and most of the leaves were wilting. She threw a temper tantrin and dropped most of the remaining leaves. I'm unfamiliar with what to do next. Do I leave the remaining leaves or do I just chop it at the base at this point; Where would I chop it?
4ft in 3 months ( this is not normal spot in case any of you were concerned)
I’m wanting to get an ivy plant. Anything I should know about them first? Do they do well in low light? TIA! Edit: sorry guys I meant a Common Ivy
Hey plant people! Looking for advice. When you have a plant strongly rooted in water, do you prefer to move to soil, or to lecha and then soil? I have had equal fails and success with each method, but prefer ultimately to have my plants in soil. I understand it varies by type of plant, but would love some advice that comes from solid experience.
Not sure where to place the humidifier with my plants. Does this look ok? Thanks
Is this pot good for my peace lily?? It had some root rot but I cut it off and I potted it up with tropical potting mix and I mixed that with a bag of orchid bark.
What's this orange stuff? The plant is thriving and grew 4 inches in a month or so, but the soil is looking like this and it didnt before. Anything i should fix?
I need some advice from people who live in cold climates! I just moved from Seattle to Boston and most of my plants died on the way. I don’t want to lose the ones that survived, but they started drooping and I wondered if maybe being near the window in January was too much. So I moved them “inland,” but then they’re near the heater. I’ve added a humidifier, but jeez, I’m worried about them! Any advice?
I just purchased an Alocasia Camouflage from my local nursery. I was unsure if I need to pot it in chunky soil mix like I do for my aroids- or if I should place it in leca. I have no experience with Alocasia since it’s my first. Any help is appreciated! -picture for reference (not my photo)
My peace lily tends to droop quite a bit. I just watered it and it seems to be coming back up. The app says water every six days, I’m finding out that it needs it about every four days or so. Soil gets dry pretty quick. I am in Arizona so it’s already pretty dry here.
I bought this pink princess yesterday and the pot she came in was a little rough. So I placed her in this setup. I was wondering if this was conducive to a healthy life for her?
Hello fellow plant friends:) I am wanting to add a String of Pearls plant to my collection. Please let me know of any advice, tips, and tricks you have for me. My biggest questions are: What is the best soil set up ? What is the best way to fertilize ? How much light should they get ? What type of pot should I use ?
Hi! This is Birdie, a birds nest fern that I’ve had for about 6 months. I’ve stopped overwatering her and given her more light and I think she is adjusting well, but has these brown spots on the leaves. I am wondering if I should leave them or trim them off? Thank you for any advice!
I have a general question to ask. I live in Ontario, Canada. Right now we're in the winter months and since it's very cold the heat is running nonstop. And because of that the house has become very dry. We have a humidifier on our furnace and 2 humidifiers on the main level. I have a hygrometer in every room (plants in every room). The readings show normal humidity and approximately 70-75° Fahrenheit. My question is that my plants are really dry, sticking my fingers down at least 3" still dry. I have been watering a lot more, the water soaks right in. But am I over watering them? I'm not sure as I've never had this problem before. I also have picked up the pots and they don't seem heavier. I would appreciate any advice you can give me on watering, not watering, standing on my head. Lol
Can someone tell me what this is? The label is generic. I saw a larger one at the store that had the name, I should have noted it but I didn’t. I think it started with an S?
Hi! I have never been good at gardening but finally have my own yard and want to make it look pretty with flowers! Today I got 3 potted plants. Fuschia, Bloody-Cane Geranium, & a singular Petunia. I was wondering if anyone has any fertilizer suggestions? 2 are in hanging baskets! Also wondering if I’m able to repot the petunia (if anyone recommends it) Would normal soil from Home Depot or Lowe’s work? & any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! We live in Central Florida for climate purposes. Here are my new plants!
