First Jalapeño harvest!
Please help identify. I believe this is some kind of Fig, per Planta identifier. Can’t tell if it’s a “Roy”, “Audrey”, or what. Anyone know?
Has anyone bought any plants from Planta? If so, how was the experience/ the plants/ etc.?
Hi guys I want to buy fertilizer, please give me your recommendations.🩷🪴
Hello, how do you all go about measuring the moisture level in your pots? Some of mine are really retaining water even though they are in a draining pot.
I recently repotted my monstera to have them grow in one direction but since then I noticed that the leaves have started drooping? Anything that I am doing wrong? Please guide me!!
Home depot had these for $39.99 is that a good price?🩷🪴
When the leaves on my monstera curl, does that mean it’s thirsty? I was planning on watering it tomorrow. Also excited for this new leaf and considering buying another monstera that is a single plant instead of this one which is 3 I think.
Help what’s going on???? Overwatered??? I wasn’t there for a few days and that happens
My oldest plant is an Epiphyllum Oxypetalum cactus. The mother plant belonged to my great grandmother and would be over 150 years old today. I have no idea who has the original plant. Parts of that plant has been clipped, given away and propagated over many years. I got a palm size leaf in the 80s. I initially grew it in soil. I mostly grew it in a large spaghetti jar of water for years when I couldn’t care for plants due to extensive business travel. I put it permanently into a tiny bit of soil in a heavy glazed clay pot over 15 years ago. I add a little cow manure every few years. The plant is about 6 feet tall. High winds knocked over my large plants including two Epiphyllum Oxypetalums and my monstera. It broke the pot. But, this exposed the roots. This shows 15 year root growth of an epiphyte plant which is almost nothing! It is not even root bound!Epiphytes like orchids don’t heavily rely on putting roots in soil. So, they don’t grow a lot of roots.
Hey guys! I just got my first Monstera from Walmart last week (was there for pots and walked out with a plant oops). When I got home, I know some people think it's okay to repot immediately, some recommend leaving it alone for 2 weeks to let it acclimate, well I pulled it out of the pot and I'm glad I did because it was in a pot with no drainage and it was root bound (or if not root bound, pretty close...roots were contoured and grew to the shape of the pot on the bottom and creeping up the sides) I had a plastic liner from an old plant that I just put it in and backfilled due to soil loss when I transplanted it. It's doing fine but the "root boundness" keeps in the back of my mind. I'm thinking of repotting it into a 10" pot (it's in an 8" right now). Should I wait for new growth to be put out so I know it's not in shock or just send it and repot at my next watering? I've struggled with other plants having root rot (I have since learned pot size vs plant and root size comparison, also that this is my first year having plants) so I'm just nervous the idea my monstera will get root root upgrading the pot. This leads me to my next question...I have monstera soil (coco coir and peat moss pretty much, I ordered it from Amazon) and also just regular potting soil with perlite at a 1:1 ratio. Does it really matter? I feel like it matters more which pot you have it in. I think I could get away with a plastic pot and my potting mix vs having a clay pot and using the monstera mix (the monstera soil seems to retain wayyyy more moisture but I just used it today)...what do y'all recommend? I like plastic liners and the drainage they have and also how it's malleable trying to get the plants out when it's time to repot...but I'm just worried about root rot I think just from all my other plants (they have since recovered but just really sucked..I had a Zz plant with awesome roots and didn't have the right soil and planter combo)
Does Planta market seem really expensive to you guys?
I got this gorgeous white wizard as a gift from one of my babies! but it has some sort of net in the center. is this something that should be removed and affect the roots? TIA 🌱
Moss pole obsessed!!! Orchid/sphagnum moss has been my favorite! What's yours?
Hey! Very new to this world, but I love this Yukka! Anyone have any ideas what is happening here? Still getting new leaves but some browning and drooping of others.
hi everyone, is this a sign that my money plant needs repotting? the bottom leaves look a bit sorry for themselves but the new leaves all look healthy
To me one of the most satisfying things about taking care of plants is watching their pots drain out after giving them a good watering, makes me feel like I did good taking care of them that day haha. What is one of the most satisfying planty things for you all?
Okay so i got this guy as a gift and the leaves were browning when i got him. Should i cut them off? Theyre not soft or mushy, seems like leaf burn to me, the brown spots are very crisy but the rest seems to be doing fine.. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Hello everyone! Does anyone know what these two plants are? I know the one on the right is probably a type of Bromeliad, but I don’t know the one of the left. We got these from my partners sister and my goal is to revive them (hopefully)
Would any of you recommend a premixed soil brand and a fertilizer brand that is widely available? My town doesn’t have many of the popular brands of soil or fertilizer.
