Big thanks to whomever mentioned using a grow light during the night to keep the plants alive in a dark bathroom. Brilliant idea! I just put everything away in the morning and my Senseveria looks gorgeous all day š
Does anyone know what these two plants are? Would like to know just to insure I take proper care though they are doing well.
Obsessed with my new plant stand for my plant babies.
Repotted my Monstera āAlboā and it looks happy.
š !! I bought a gardenia bonsai online and she arrived about a week ago. She initially had a lot of buds, but they start to wilt and soon as they open and look like this (see photo) within a day of opening. She also had a few yellow leaves and I donāt think there are any more now than there were a week ago. I know gardenias are sensitive, so maybe she just needs some time to recover from the shipping and to get used to the new environment? I have her in indirect sunlight in a room that gets a ton of light. But whatās worrying me is that when I tried to use a moisture meter by her roots, I couldnāt even push it in there. The akadama around her is very loose and the water runs off immediately, but Iām concerned nothingās actually making it to her roots. Under different circumstances, Iād take a look at her roots and repot her if needed. But since sheās so delicate, Iām concerned Iāll just do more damage. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks ahead of time! šš¼
Iām a new plant mom and I was wondering why my wavy fern smells acidic. What does that mean and how do I fix it because my plant is starting to wilt.
Hey guys! So I am trying to get more plant supplies and Iām trying to figure out the best: Succulent soil to buy Orchid soil to buy Perlite to buy Chunky soil to buy Any tips/material I should look into? -Thanks LearningPlantMom š
Thinking about a question a fellow Planta user asked a few weeks back, about how those of us with large collections manage it without getting overwhelmed. Am realizing I have learned to not procrastinate the small stuff that I see needs done. When I started getting overwhelmed in the past, I was feeling like everywhere I looked there was something that needed to be done⦠That plant needs some soil topped off, i gotta make more fertilizer water, that plant needs to be trimmed and pruned, that plant needs its leaves cleaned, ooo i gotta move that plant cause its getting too much or too little sun, etc etc. I started making a list in my head and had so many things on it⦠it starting getting overwhelming. So i started just doing each thing as I discovered it, immediately, rather than waiting, and found most things only took a minute or two to do, and made me feel way less overwhelmed. Also since you canāt make to do lists on the planta app with a lot of those little things, its too hard to remember those little things as you are watering. So anyway, take action and be done! No more procrastinating! Your plants will thank you. šæš
This tuberous begonia is thriving in my outdoor hanging planter, but sheās starting to look a little leggy. Should I prune her back? Iāve never had one get this big outside⦠TIA!
Just planted some propagations and received a few cuttings from my friend!
Curly Sue checking in after Spa day
Playing around with the arrangement of these beauties with some help from yaāll and trying to learn and care for them, but itās such a cozy little space for me, my husband and the pups⦠Especially at night! I am in love. ššŖ“šŗ
Got two new babies from Walmart Yesterday, A lucky Bamboo and a Xanthoma.āŗļø The Xanthoma looks kind of unhealthy and the soil was dry whenever I bought her. I was wondering if anyone knows whatās wrong with her leaves? Or any other issues present? Im going to repot her later today to hopefully helpšš»šŖ“ The bamboo plant is in this pot with glued in rocks. Iām going to try to get the rocks out today, then going to repot afterwards so any tips for that are definitely needed. It also has some brown spots on the leaves and Iām hoping someone will know what that is? š Any advice is very appreciatedš
My mom got a new sprout!!
Iām moving, and guess what Iām concerned with? So many plants. I was so concerned that I made āsouth facingā a priority when looking for new spots. I even went out to a spot before signing a lease and looked at the light situation in the evening to make sure the plants are fine but Iām not roasting at night. This whole āSouth Windowā area will be contained in a 5ā x 3ā spot in my new living room. Right? Right. Some older photos show the evolution. This spot was Lithops ground 0. RIP āSOUTH WINDOW.ā
I would LOVE advice / suggestions for my new plant stand. (See photo) Iām noticing water spots (white spots) on leaves of the Pilea and Monstera on the shelf above the small humidifier. A ) how can I safely remove the water spots? Iāve used a saturated micro fiber cloth with decent pressure and theyāre still there, but less visible. B ) is there a more effective way to position these plants in relation to the humidifier to keep them hydrated but not too close to get water spots. Or where could the humidifier live to be helpful for all plants on the display. C ) would using distilled or spring water for the humidifier solve this problem all together? Iām currently using unfiltered tap water. D ) any tips on how to make this setup more useful and practical for the plants, Iām all ears. Iām new at this and loving all of the help the community has provided. Thanks for looking.
After three months of planning and mentally preparing for it, I gave home-made succulent arrangements to a few people last December. What I learned makes me now look at every box store arrangement and think, thatās a beautiful decoration that will be dead in two months. Son and mother - or neighbor and neighbor - will have an awkward conversation next time they visit. It takes about a month to figure out that succulent arrangements are untenable if you didnāt start sorting by (surprise) light and water needs; with water, Iāve built little retaining walls or kept the plant inside its own pot and planted the whole thing underground. Experiments. Here is an arrangement I made for myself at the time. Note that is last month, and it kind of looks rough because I knew I would be repotting it - because of all the reasons mentioned. The plants were a gift, and I was going through a āI want plants rooting over rocksā moment. I was at the point of watering according to one plantās needs, though there used to be four diff species. This is better. That stretchy one can finally get some light. I also couldnāt pass up that little shiny Haworthia where I got the smaller pot. Also, the amount of effort involved in fitting that white box on my shelf was ridiculous ha.
Iāve had this plant for a while now, and I thought that it was a Moth Orchid, please correct me if Iām wrong. I was watering bit today, and I noticed my yellow leave. I know that yellow leaves in older plants are supposed to happen with orchids, so should take it off for new growth? Also, should I repot it?
Good morning š!! I shared this in one other feed .. Looking to see if this plant would do well outdoors or is strictly an indoor plant ? Thank you for the help !!
