Alongside our series on plant myths, we're also launching a new series featuring our employees’ favorite plants. First up is Anton:
"This is one of my favorite plants in my collection. It’s an unusual epiphytic plant native to the Atlantic forests of Brazil and doesn’t have an English common name. Its scientific name is Nematanthus fissus, originally collected in Boracéia. I’ve had it for a couple of years now, and it means a lot to me since it's slow growing and I received it as a very small cutting from a dear friend. I grow many blooming houseplants, but for me, the plants I grow don’t always have to be showy to be special.
I love this plant because it came from a friend, and it’s a species that isn’t too commonly cultivated. It has really oddly shaped blooms, like tiny, shining red whales scattered on the branches throughout most of the year in my growing conditions. I grow my plant in a southeast-facing window in a hanging pot.
Although rare and slow growing, it’s a fairly easy-to-grow species belonging to the same genus as the more common clog plant / goldfish plant (Nematanthus gregarius)."

My chayote squash that I grew from a seed outside of the fruit. I read it should be very difficult to grow successfully outside the fruit, is that weird.

The nursery was getting too small and the roots started wrapping in the bottom…so it was finally time to transfer CCR to its 2nd pot and it looks so much better!

Has anybody ever used any of these products? Also, how do we feel about watering bulbs? (specifically for pathos and how do you edit your watering schedule for it?)

I have outdoor plants and each time I get a notification that rain was detected in my area, and click to confirm it’s rained, it doesn’t seem to change the water schedule. Anyone know why this might be? Thanks!

hi! got this plant from a nursery recently and realized he had no drainage. went to repot and found this! how many roots are too many? they’re so long, do i cut them? what size pot? he was in an 8 inch before!

Sooooo very proud of my tropical pitcher plant!
🥲 She has taken a while to give me a bloom, and I was impatiently waiting for it to open!! Anyone growing one of these knows why this is so important! 😅 I was nervous, as she was taking a while to do so & while I was on vacation for 4 days she POPPED OFF 🙌🏼😍
