Help is this Shipping/New home shock? This is my Dracaena Janet Craig Compacta; I received it in the mail a bout a week ago. have been looking up more information, and I believe it could be transportation/new environment shock. But nowIthink I am overthinking this, and it is making me worried it could be herbicide poisoning. I am in an apartment, and I used rainwater from a downspout; I am worried it might have been sprayed when my apartment complex had a company spray the grass. Is this shippin environment shock or something else? What par light meter number for outdoor monsteras sunlight ?
Two days ago I thought roots of my umbrella tree were growing out of the drainage hole. Today it's definitely a fungus of some kind. Any thoughts? Should I remove it?
For anyone who struggles with Monsterra root rot, I wanted to share what I found at a local plant store! It’s called Molly’s soil mix and my monstera roots are so healthy now after having root rot previously 😭 Has anyone used this mix as well? I’ve heard chunky mix is best so before attempting to make my own I wanted to test this out! Curious your experiences if so! (This is about three weeks post repot!)
Help I bought a watercolor orchid from Home Depot. Now what?
Water propping shelf!!! So many new things. Left to right: golden pothos, Hoya carnosa, ZZ, swedish ivy, Schlumbergeria, heart-leaf Philo, random succulent, snake plants, philodendron jopeii, mystery plant (pepperomia of some sort), variegated string of beads, Hawaiian tē plant, delicosa, copper philodendron, heartleaf, adonasii, n'joy, pothos, inchplant, philodendron hastatum!
This plants tag only said “philodendron” do you guys think this is the same plant? Planta said a different one. TIA
I got this new peace lily a few weeks ago and it’s been doing great! Lots of new leaf growth, but I’m concerned that it hasn’t put out any new flowers since bringing it home. Is there anything I can do to encourage new flowers to grow? Open to suggestions!!
Why are my Amazonian Elle ears Polly Curling? I must her 3x a day and she gets good indirect light Also in the last photo two of my leaves have brown spots. No pest & soil is moist
Just got this coffea arabica. Any tips??
Thoughts on what kind of mammillaria this is ?? The spines are hooked
What’s the word(protocol) on giving your plants a little outdoor time? Most of my houseplants are in east/NE facing windows, so from time to time I bring them to my back patio west/sw but mostly west for a little suntanning and airing out. I try to keep my sensitive babies (calatheas) in a mostly shaded area and my succulent/tougher guys more in the sun. I normally wouldn’t do this for more than an hour at a maximum 2. What’s the general consensus on this?
The leaves of my golden pothos vine are very pale, and many have turned yellow and fallen off. The vines are long, and I want to bring these long ones back to life. I would really appreciate your help. Thank youu💕
Thought I’d share something fun I’ve been doing lately in hopes it inspires anyone else with a few too many plants on their hands. I know plant swaps and even rare plant conventions are a thing now, but for anyone looking to give some of their plants away, but don’t have many friends or family as into keeping them as much as you are, I highly recommend gifting them to your local nursing and retirement homes. I’m sure plenty of the folks that move into the ones around you are like mine and used to garden or keep houseplants. Some homes even have gardening clubs for the residents. I thought I might make some folks feel a little less homesick if they had something small to take care of and brighten up their new spaces. I’ve met quite a few very sweet ladies who thanked me when I dropped them off, telling me all about all the succulents they used to have in their homes, or the beautiful gardens they miss tending to. I’m preparing my third batch of plants for them and I’m happy to report that every time I go to gift some, I get another dozen people asking me if I can come back and bring more. I run out of plants very quickly there. For anyone interested in trying this, I highly recommend picking low-maintenance plants, like succulents, or ones that thrive on neglect like snake plants and ZZ plants. I make them “care cards” where I tell them how much light they need, how long I wait before watering them, how to check if the soil is dry to water, what type of soil they need, etc. using the information this app provides really comes in handy for that. I hope this inspires someone else to give some away where we might not normally think to look to gift them. You never know how much a small gift can mean to someone 😊
Ok I've made a huge rookie mistake. My 74 year old mother swore to me when I started getting houseplants that I had to line the bottom with rocks. Now I have way too many to repot (yes i bought that many since late winter without doing all my research I guess). I've had fungus gnats on just one plant. I repotted and it's fine now. Can I just go with what I've done and repot if I see anything? Also I have a few growing mushrooms. Do I need to repot those?
My newly planted winter daphne is shedding leaves and the lower leaves are turning yellow with spots.
So my Monstera I like to think is growing well but I feel like maybe it’s starting to become crowded and I really don’t know what to do from here. Should I let it be for a little? Cut the tiny leaves out? Not sure would like some advice thank you!
Does anyone know if you can copy and paste plants to make adding them go quicker?
