bottom watering is a great idea because their leaves do not like to get wet! but to be honest, i still do top water until it starts to run out the bottom. then i blot dry the leaves with a cloth. the most important thing i'd say is to let your plant dry out almost completely between waterings. this girl is very prone to root rot!

Mine gets a haircut about once a week. As for care, Iโ€™m not so careful. I top water until it drains. I use succulent/cactus soil and always a shallow pot. I water when almost totally dry. Their root system is extremely shallow. If you use a deeper pot, the bottom will stay wet all the time because no roots there to take up the moisture, which leads to root rot. I did have a much larger one but it ended up looking bad because I let it dry out too much I think. The center leaves dried up. Took cuttings from the ends, laid them on soil, slightly covered with more soil, and grew a new planter of them.
