Hey everyone!! I’ve had this Swedish Ivy plant for almost a year now. And I was wondering if anyone knows at what point I should consider repotting him? I’m new to having plants, so any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

It’s probably time! If it does need repotted, this time of year is the best time to do it. I’d repot it by only an extra 2-3 inches at most. Just take a look at the roots and see if there’s a lot of them bunched up at the bottom.

Thank you so much for the advice!! I truly appreciate it!!! The last time I tried repotting a plant its roots were too small, and when I put him back into his pot, he ended up dying :( I’m considering taking it to a plant nursery today to ask if they can help!

A new environment can be stressful for them. I like to keep a little bit of the old soil and I don’t really loosen the roots too much to avoid damaging them. The key is to take your time don’t rush the repotting.

Here he is in his new pot!! The guy who helped me didn’t do anything to the soil around his roots, he just put him in this pot and added some additional soil. I’m hoping now that he has more room for his roots, he’ll begin to have more growth. Perhaps I should wait some time before pruning him again?

It doesn't look too bad to me but I agree you should look at the roots. The pot should be pretty full of roots before you repot. You might consider doing a light pruning on the longer stems to force some Central growth. Nothing too drastic.

Don’t be afraid to go bigger, especially with depth. Putting my plant into a very deep planter helped her growth skyrocket, it’s like all that extra room for roots made her give just as much length in vines. She’s about 2.5 years old and she tripled in size the past 6 months since I did
