What on earth is happening to my snake plant?!?!? It happened so suddenly -- seemed to be overnight. My only guess is root rot (I've never repotted it 🫣), but I've never experienced this before. I hope it isn't diseased?!!

This looks like what was happening to another of my plants and it was also suggested it might be overwatering! It does look like it might need more room so I’d say it’s probably time to repot in something a little bigger and that should help!

Thank you!! I agree that it looks like over-watering. It's strange though because I water less frequently than this app recommends, and it's also in the dead of Summer when it normally needs more water.... 🤷

Sometimes it comes out of nowhere I swear! My rubber tree that I’m having the same issue with was thriving and then bam, dark spots, drooping etc

I also follow the Planta schedule for all my sansevieria. And they are bone dry when scheduled. Check your app info that you entered to make sure it is correct.

Snake plant roots are very shallow. If the pot is significantly deeper than the roots, this could be the cause of root rot/damage, despite the top of the soil being dry. Time to investigate! šŸ•µļø

Was the leaf wet from watering? It looks pretty close to the soil. I’ve had that happen to leaves that are too close the soil.

I wonder!! This would make logical sense to me. However, there are other random leaves starting to get spots, too, and they are higher up on the plant 😫

UPDATE: Thank you all for your helpful suggestions! I removed all the affected leaves and repotted. I'm thinking it was a root issue after seeing the state of the root ball! 😳 I should not have left it in the plastic pot it came in for so long. This plant was an unexpected gift from a stranger, and alas, my own purchased plants took higher priority in my mind. 🫣😭

With that sweet kitty sitting next to it, it’ll recover quickly! But don’t let the sweet kitty have a taste! They are poisonous to kitties!!

Oop! I had no idea! Thank you!!! (That kitty is pretty spoiled when it comes to palate, and so i doubt he'd touch anything green. But I'll be more careful in future!)

What kind of snake plant is it? Unless it’s just the lighting, but looks like light colored leaves with a very white edge. I have several but not familiar with this one.

I'm unsure! šŸ¤” This is the only snake plant I've ever had, and it was a gift

Thanks for the reply. I’m going to do some research.
