Looking for some advice on my cat palm! I did the diagnosis and it felt it needed new fertilizer. I got a new pot that wasn’t wider, but deeper (should have measured) and when I took it out last night I noticed that it was mostly roots? The bottom was very hard and from my research seemed “root bound” ? I ended up repotting into this white pot because it was a bit wider. I am going to get a bigger pot tonight again and I’m thinking I need to pull apart the roots to give them breath. Looking for any advice on the pot size and process of separating the roots. Should I cut them? Should I separate them? I don’t want to disturb the new growth. Thank you! This community is invaluable to me.

Gently massage the soil around the roots to not damage them otherwise your plant may go into shock. Get a larger pot at least 2-5 inches wider and deeper.

Thank you so much! This was so helpful. Some videos said cut them but that seemed bad lol
