Any Canadians here order plants from the US? Is it just straight forward ordering and receiving or do I have to get a permit and go through other stuff? Wondering cause I’d like to order a rhizome from Etsy from a US seller. Seller says they sell and ship to Canadians and I don’t have to do anything but web search says I have to get permits. Wondering if anyone orders from the US to Canada. Thank you

Not in Canada but I've done the opposite. And looked at it for trips up. You have to check the plants allowed on the CFIA's Horticulture Plant List. Some sellers just ship, and hope for the best. Unfortunately not helpful all the time. I think Canada requires a phytocertificate, which many greenhouses here fo have. Especially a lot of the California sellers I've found. Not sure ots helpful, but here we can import under 12 plants with no USDA permit. You CFIA may be similar. I know Alyssa on here was saying she was told she could drive in like 50 plants!! Hopefully she'll chime in.

You gotta be right. I’m assuming the seller is just saying that and letting me take the chance. Everywhere i searched said what you said. You ever wrong? JK Let’s see if any Canadians chime in.

I'm definitely wrong sometimes!! The USDA permits are literally so easy to get, you just ho on there, tell it what plant species you are ordering (that are approved), and which country from. And your information, adress, name, etc. And you get anything email either your approved permit, that lasts a full year. It takes like 20 mins tops. And there's youtube videos on it if you search. It sounds like you may need to pay for yours 😞 inspection.canada.ca/en/plant-health/invasive-species/plant-import/primer
