Does anyone make their own soil from kitchen compost? I have a composter, mix that dirt with commercial indoor potting soil but it is so hard after I repot. So far some of the repots seem fine but some aren’t doing well.

I don’t make my own. But maybe you need to add perlite or orchid bark to keep it from compacting?

I have a composter, but it’s outside and only used for outdoor plants. I think a little compost mixed in could add a nutrient boost, but I agree with the suggestion to amend with perlite. I’m also a big fan of orchid bark as a soil amendment. 😊

0개 좋아요I’ve had this happen a bunch of times too I have no idea how they get in there! I normally just leave the worm in when I repot and hope that it helps to fertilise
