Brand new plant and I’m not sure what I am doing. On the smallest leaf the yellowing keeps coming and going. I put the plant in the window where it got direct sunlight and it turned yellow. I put the plant several feet from the window and the yellow goes away. What kind of sunlight should I give it? I think the other three leaves have yellowed because of shock… should I trim them?

What direction is your window facing? If it’s a southern window it might be too much direct sunlight. Do you have an eastern facing window that you could maybe put it about one foot away? Also, I have found my plants do well when they have plant company. Do you have any other plants? If the sunlight is too direct I sometimes put them behind so the other plant filters out some light, provided the filter plant can handle more sunlight.

I have lots of other plants. I definitely could try that… The window is facing north west and that’s the only room it can be in… I’m in a townhouse so I only have so many options. Do they not need direct sunlight but indirect?

Should I trim the three yellow leaves? Or let it be. I just planted it last week so I think shock is a factor.

Yes cut the yellow leaves all the way off. From the very bottom. And keep it where it doesn't yellow. Hope that makes sense.

This is Syngonium Angustatum. Mine got morning northeast light and bright shade after 11am as shown in the photo. They can take northwest light without yellowing. That’s afternoon sun. A grow light is likely needed to compensate and get 8 hours to 12 hours under a grow light. Watering inconsistency can cause yellowing and limp leaves. Water when the soil is almost dry. The leaves will look slightly limp. Low fertilizer can also cause yellowing. I fertilize with 50% diluted fertilizer every two weeks. This variety benefits from a trellis or pole to climb. 🪴🍀
