Beautiful dieffenbachia found at local plant store on clearance for $10! I love it already! Little bit scared to get a rash, but won’t touch it much.

    Rash is only a concern if you get the sap on your skin and don't wash it off asap. As long as you're careful, you'll be fine ☺️ I get all up in my big girl's business when it's time for a water and I've never gotten a rash from lugging her around. I am seldom careful and I've only gotten a rash from one dieffenbachia one time and ingested sap four time total (I had to learn twice with both dieffenbachias 🫠) *obviously if you're allergic to the plant you should be WAY more careful!! But if you're just worried about general safety of a toxic plant, this one is pretty forgiving as long as you keep a sink with soap nearby.

      I echo Hayley - only time I had an issue was when I had a bug infestation and had to cut a bunch of stalks and leaves off. I was kind of cranky about the plant and wasn’t careful. Pulled a few leaves off without gloves. Washed my hands after but wasn’t thinking about it being a dief - few hours later my hands were burning. Realized what I’d done and went back to scrub my hands like I was about to perform surgery 👩‍⚕️ Hands were a little raw for a few hours but then fine. Now, if I would have touched my face or rubbed my eye - think I would have had a bigger issue. I say all this to say don’t worry when watering, caring for this beauty but do wear gloves if pruning or anything. She’s a beaut - enjoy!
