What do I do with this guy! He’s getting a bit wild, I got him from ikea! I’m looking to repot him, but looking for the best way to do so :) thank you!

    Ponytail palms are very resilient. It might go into a bit of shock from repotting but it will recover fine. Just make sure to use cactus soil. I even add amendments for extra drainage. They hold water in their trunks so they can survive long stretches without water so they don’t want anything that will hold on to water too long. Mine dropped some leaves last time I repotted but recovered just fine. I put it in a shallow bonsai pot as well so I don’t overwhelm its roots. It’s also a good idea to do some root and leaf trimming at this time if you feel comfortable.

    I would not trim off roots. I would repot to a pot just 2 inches wider in diameter. You can straighten the plant a little while repotting.
