Is my croton getting to much sun?!? Recently had a leaf fall off minutes ago. It’s in a 10 inch pot. Was last watered two days ago. Seems to be leaning a bit too. I tied it with twine a couple of days ago as well for self correction. She was upright mostly when I got her (picture on the right) Tuesday 2/20/24. However she was repotted because on Thursday 2/22/24 because of the lack of space for the roots. She also received a lot of direct sunlight Thursday due to transport and Home Depot garden center. Please tell me I didn’t ruin her.

If it’s only been a couple days it could just be adjusting to your environment or feeling the effects of being repotted. That said, these have a real need for high humidity, makes them a challenging houseplant. I’d put a humidifier right near by.

Crotons are SUPER picky. Mine would droop and throw a couple leaves then perk up with some water and some sun. Then it would droop again. Now that I know what to do with one (and now that mine is pathetic looking lmao) I have new leaves growing! Just know they’re super finicky! And don’t give up! But also give it time to readjust

Crotons are the typical tropical plant. They thrive in high humidity, full sun and high temperatures not found in the typical home. They can live for years outside in their natural environment. They are used as hedges in the tropics because they are easy care. The typical home in temperate climates can’t reproduce the ideal environment needed for a croton to thrive. Can’t fault the croton for that.

    Leaves don’t last forever! 🥰

Sounds like transplant shock. Give it some time to adjust to the new environment and routine! I highly recommend a humidifier as well!

Oh the Croton is the pickiest plant. My lost every single one of its leaves. I didn’t do anything and it started growing again. Who knows?!
