Hello all! Does it look like my roots have rot? I’m a new plant mom and my BOP has been acting crazy over the last month. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to save her. She was my first plant. 🥹

nothin’ wrong with these roots — did you cut them though?
いいね 1件Yes I did. Is that ok?
0件のいいねwell…that depends. why did you cut them? this can cause shock to the plant
0件のいいねThey looked black the ends. I thought it was rotting. Can a plant recover from shock?
0件のいいねwell if it was black and mushy stuff that you cut away then you did the right thing, but these roots look pretty healthy. plants can recover but only time will tell. what was happening with your plant that made you investigate?
0件のいいねIt was really droopy, the leaves were yellowing and the soil was wet for like a month.

They don’t look root rotted to me. One thing you can do to tell is smell them! If they smell really bad and not like dirt and are squishy then it is root rot
2件のいいねThanks so much. I hope it bounces back. 🤞🏾

What kind of plant is it? :)

0件のいいねI agree these roots don’t look rotten; however, if you did have rot, clean the roots with a 50/50 mix of peroxide and water to stop it from continuing. BOP is a sturdy plant so hopefully it will bounce back. If you have already repotted, just wait and if you see any of those same signs, you can water it with the 50/50 mix. Good luck with it!
いいね 1件If it doesn’t get better you can water with 50/50 peroxide & water?
いいね 1件Yup, bc that could mean the rot was still spreading and that mix will help stop it.
