Has anyone successfully propagated a Golden Pathos? I’ve had them in water for a couple weeks (switched out) but don’t see any roots at all. I’d still consider myself a newbie so any advice is helpful!

Can you post a picture of your props? I’m propagating golden pothos right now as well!

I rec NOT switching out water for Pothos and spider plant props, as they produce rooting hormone that they release into the water. To speed up the rate of root development, I would just ‘top off’ the water every week or so and she should take off :) happy planting!

Also, I only transfer my water propogated plants to soil once they have secondary roots (AKA roots growing from those long roots). For Pothos I like to give these guys a well draining soil. About 70% houseplant soil, some perlite and orchid bark and they’re very happy!

I use prop drops to help mine develop roots! Good luck 🌱

I actually have an experiment going right now to compare speed and volume of roots for golden pothos props, comparing 10+ methods. For water props like this, try to keep them warm. A heat mat is ideal, but you could also put them under a warm lamp or in a room without AC. Next most helpful so far is aeration: you can pick up an air stone and pump at pet/aquarium stores pretty cheaply. All that said, golden pothos really doesn’t need anything fancy. You can just keep it in water and wait and it will root. Consider swapping out more like half the water each week instead of all of it. A lot of plants will feel like they’re never going to root, but they do. Good luck!

I started these on June 15th. I didn’t do anything special besides refill the water when it got low.
