This is my first maranta and I want to keep her healthy! I live in a dry climate (25% humidity on average) How important has your experience been with adding extra humidity for these? I’ve read mixed articles about how much extra they actually need to stay happy by buying a humidifier vs. not🧐👀 Any advice is always appreciated!

As far as calethea the maranta is the most lenient when it comes to humidity so I've heard. However, it still appreciates more humidity than most

This ☝️ answer is 🔑! The maranta loves drinks 💦 but isn’t as demanding on the humidity. Just pay attention to any leaf curls on the edging & give ‘em a drink as soon as you can, make it a thorough drink. 😜

At a 25% average humidity I would definitely buy a humidifier. Also, my experience with my prayer plant is that during the winter the leaves get ugly. They get yellow then Brown. I typically end up cutting off all of the old foliage and it has always come back with beautiful fresh growth. If you do this be careful because sometimes New growth is already coming up underneath so don't accidentally cut it off.

I live in a dry climate as well and mine is flourishing with a humidifier (I use it every couple of days for two hours each day). I also use distilled water. Good luck!

If you can get good light in a bathroom used regularly, that could also be an option.

I highly recommend keeping it in a humid area if you want it to keep green and healthy, especially during summer heat. They are sooo stingy and will make sure you see and know if you aren’t giving it what it needs.
