I am wondering when to repot most of my plants. Is there a general rule of thumb for when to repot your average house Plants?

Iāve always been under the impression that once the roots are visible or coming out of the bottom of the pot, itās time. But I could be totally wrong!
1 LikeI usually wait until the roots are coming through the bottom. Depending on the plant, you may just want to repot with fresh soil but keep in the same size container.
2 LikesI've heard wait until they're coming out the bottom as well, but some even say don't report in winter.
2 LikesDefinitely roots growing well out of the bottom of the pot and of course during spring/summertimeāŗļø
2 LikesUsing roots coming out of the bottom as the only indication to repot can lead to over watering and root rot. Remove the pot to check the entire root system because roots coming out of the bottom can be just natureās straws produced to drink the excess water in the drainage trays. Check ALL the roots to see if there are more roots than soil or if the roots are blocking the drainage. Thatās the time to repot. Repotting too soon only adds excess wet soil around the roots with moisture the plant canāt use up before the next watering time. So, the roots sit in water when they would have had dryer soil before the repot.
0 LikesGenerally check when you see roots coming out the drain hole, but needing to water more, or the pot doesnāt seem to be holding as much water. There are many indicators. You know your plants, so just check when in doubt. Iāve also run into plants that put most roots at the bottom, leaving the rest of pot kinda empty.
