Struggling plant own

Help! Is my bamboo salvageable? What do I do? I’ve had it for at least 4-5 years and I have no clue why this happened.

Maybe root rot? I’ve never had bamboo before, but plants in water have a risk of getting rot in their roots. I’d look at them, cut off any rot, and either keep it in water or plant it in some soil.

based on new growth being unaffected, this is nutrient deficiency. needs a hydroponic fertilizer
