Why? Oh, why I ask you, do they make so many beautiful, decorative pots, specifically smaller succulent pots, that have no drainage?!? As a new plant owner, I didn't know better, and now, I have several super-cute pots around with succulents that have great succulent soil, but no drainage hols in the pots ... do I need to repot and get rid of them?

plants with krystal on YT has a video about how to drill holes in ANY type of pot. you can also use them as cover pots instead if you don’t want to break out the drill

Hold on. You may need special drill bits that your husband may not have. But easy to get from Amazon. I’ve been drilling holes in pots and non-pots for quite a while. He will need a diamond drill bits for ceramics. Sounds expensive but a set is about $15 from Amazon. Originally I tried bits for brick and concrete, but didn’t work. There is a simple technique to learn also. And wear eye protection. Pieces often fly. Some materials are still difficult to drill thru, especially stoneware. Drilling holes opens up a whole new world of possibilities. I get many “pots” from Goodwill. Some beautiful decorative planters people probably gave up on because of no drainage as well as decorative baking dishes. I only use items that won’t look like their original intended use. The photo are a few pieces I have turned into planters.

I think these were originally both baking dishes. I have done so many that I forget. My favorite display pots are the simple terracotta from D’vinci at Amazon

I know it’s been said but I bought bits to drill drainage holes in my ceramic pots, they work like a dream and were cheap. Search 6 PCs Diamond Drill Bits Set on Amazon, $13.99

Just always use a nursery pot.

Often times it is difficult to find an appropriately sized nursery pot. I have a few that are double potted. But especially difficult for shallow succulent planters.
