Hey, planters! Here's a group activity for anyone who wants to participate. Show us your current problem child. Even the best plant parents have one 😉 I'll go first... Name: George Plant: Goeppertia elliptica "vittata" Problem: Yellowing and crispy leaves (not visible because I remove them; I think the leaf to the bottom left is next in line). Also hella infected with fungus gnats 😒 No need to reply with care advice, just giving us a place to vent a bit about our little guys 😂

Ring of fire and two other (unknown) philos. They are in the “hospital” (ziplocked bag) and hoping the recoup.

Tip for keeping plants in ziplock bags - blow air into the bag. You can even use a straw to make it puff up. The plants will appreciate the CO2 and it’ll keep the leaves from sticking to the plastic as much

My imported Queen Anthurium. I knew what I was getting myself into (everyone says they’ll drop all their leaves after being shipped) but it’s still sad just looking at this chonk 🤣

I'm surprised it can survive as just a little trunk lol

Yep lol! As long as it’s firm and not mushy, it’s still alive. It’ll grow new leaves eventually but it’ll probably take around 8 months from what I’ve seen online 😭

There's always that one species of plant that you can never care for just right 😪

This brat Easter Lilly my mom gave me. It keeps turning yellow and dropping leaves. I transplanted it, gave it fertilizer, watered it, let it dry out, followed planta’s advice. Nothing. It wants to be yellow and hate me.

My heart leaf philodendron is my current problem child. I started it from a two leaf cutting and it had really good roots before I put it in soil and since then half of it has died. I probably need a way smaller pot at this point but I’m afraid to transplant it again. I love the satisfaction from growing new plants from cuttings I’ve done it with a golden pothos and a snake plant several times but I am struggling with this philodendron. Everytime I think I’ve figured it out and it is growing it loses a leaf and will sit like that for weeks before growing a new one. I’ve tried grow lights, watering more, watering less natural sun light. Right now just waiting.

Caring for plants really is like a science project. Lots of variables to alter! I hope you find the right conditions for this little guy :)
