Water with distilled water and do not plant in potting soil or any potting mix with fertilizer. The web has great resources on DYI carnivorous plant potting mix recipes or you can buy premade.

I heard they thrive most in a terrarium type situation because they need a lot of humidity.

I literally just bought sphagnum moss for mines today it’s the best mixed with perlite for the Venus fly trap

It holds moisture which is best for the plant cause you cannot let it dry always keep moist and full sun it can survive in part sun but definitely not for long but it’s very beautiful I literally have baby one and just been researching a lot cause I want mines like yours lol

Try not to hand feed them flies or anything. They're almost always best off catching bugs themselves.

I’ve had really good luck with mine in spaghnum moss and making sure to always keep it moist. They do not like to take up any nutrients through their roots, so no soil, no liquid fertilizer, and use distilled water. It’s very rarely an issue for them on getting flies, let it do it itself. Also though, they won’t need to feed over the winter. I have mine in an east facing window that gets a couple hours of direct sun and then has bright light the rest of the day and it thrives there. Personally, I think constant direct sun is too much for them. Mine even surprised me with the most beautiful bloom! They’re not fussy once you know what they like. Best of luck!
