Good morning- I need to repot both my snake plant and the dieffenbachia plant from the nursery pot the came in. Which type of pot should I buy? The size? Should it have drain holes? I am going to Home Depot. Thanks

Always, always have drainage holes- if you want a pretty pot, you can put it in a plastic nursery pot and use the pretty one as a cover pot and the plastic one can sit in it after you water and drain it each time. Don't go up in size more than 1-2 inches or so at a time. That said, that only applies if the original pot wasn't far too large for the roots. As long as the plants have decent roots, I would go up 1-2 inches from their current pot size. Too big of a pot makes it easy to over water your plants since their roots can't reach and absorb the water in a decent amount of time, so you end up with constantly soggy soil which leads to root rot and other issues.
1 LikeFor the snake plant i would get a terra cotta pot. And a plastic pot for the diffenbachia.
