Hi!🌱 Does anyone know why my spider plant looks dirty? I bought it at a yard sale but when I got home I noticed that it looked dirty / has some brown spots on it

It’s likely mildew, a fungus. So, treat with a commercial fungicide. Search the posts or google organic methods to clear mildew. Mildew needs a continuously moist environment to thrive. That can cause additional issues like slow drying of the soil leading to root rot and fungus gnats. Lack of airflow and insufficient light/heat all lead to slow drying of the plant and soil which supports fungal growth. I recommend moving the plant to a location with at least 6 hours of bright indirect sunlight in the warm months. Ensure there is good airflow around the plant. Check the soil for root rot (soft mushy roots and smell of decay). Check for pests. Fertilize twice a month with a 50% diluted liquid fertilizer. Let the soil completely dry before watering. Spider plants have very thick roots that store water. They prefer the soil to dry out. Avoid self watering pots. No need to repot often unless the soil wont drain from overgrown roots. Spider plants like snug roots. 🍀🪴
