I have a new coffee arabica plant. What soil should be used for indoors and I’m using a grow light. Everything says bright indirect. How should I do that with a grow light. After thought here. Some of the leaves are a pale green/yellow. Thanks
Bright, indirect, direct, etc are worthless words for indoor plant care. What matters is: What type of light (sun or grow light), how bright (Ft candles or Lumin), and how long the light is on the plant. Aim for 1000 ft candles and then 4 hours for sun, 12 hours for grow Lights. I wish I knew the soil requirements.
3 LikesI just got one myself. Well draining slightly acidic soil. Pale or yellowish leaves can indicate several things. Mostly overwatering or soil retaining water for too long. Thus the well draining soil part. African violet soil or a mix with some African violet soil should be good
0 LikesI find that mine requires a lot of water. Not just when outside. I just use my usual potting soil with drainage amendments added.
i have LED grow lights that have three different lights and ten brightness settings. bright indirect light basically means the setting that's closest to what the sun looks like that day. soil is dependent on whether it should be generic potting soil or a specific type, but look up what your plant requires soil wise and you'll get a fairly good answer. if the plant normally requires a lot of light then use your grow light from when you wake up until bedtime basically. grow lights need to be used for a long time to ensure that your plant is getting the desired lighting amount since it's not the same photosynthetic light from the sun, but you can still ensure your plant's health if you use the correct lights for long enough

Grow lights are highly variable. Cheap tube lights are almost worthless. If you get a name brand such as Sansi, Barrina, Soltech, whatever, they are much stronger. So you will need to experiment a bit to determine the distance your plant is from the light. I usually run my grow lights 12 to 16 hours a day. If you think you have a very bright light, I would start with 12 or more inches from the light.
