Could anyone help me identify this plant? These are facing our front door (we don’t have a garden, just shared grass/path with neighbouring flats) and one of the neighbours planted it a few years back so I’m unsure what it is? Google suggested it is white camellia? Also, how could I help revive it? All the flowers seem to be browning or falling off.. would love to see it healthy again🌱

I can’t say for sure but if it is a camellia they only bloom a certain time of the year and stay green the rest of the year.

What time of year do they tend to bloom?

I think it depends more on your climate. I live on the gulf coast in the US so my camellias bloom in winter. We have very mild temperatures here. I hope someone else who knows more will chime in bc I am definitely not an expert. These are my camellia bushes. They produce hundreds of pink ones. 🌸

Blooming in winter on theUS Gulf coast, zones 9/10/11, is spring temperatures in colder climates.

I’m NW England, UK, so they would probably bloom in different times than the US, but I have no idea😂

It’s a camellia japonica, a.k.a Japanese rose. They are beautiful shrubs with stiff shiny leaves and bountiful flowers when they are happy. This one is fighting at least one or two shrubs/trees for water and nutrients plus fighting weeds. It needs water based on the curled leaves. Probably needs fertilizer as well. It could become a large ever blooming spring shrub if the extra shrubs were removed and the weeds cleared 3 feet in diameter. Then, fertilize with a fertilizer for blooming shrubs. I had a pink camellia for years. 🌺

Thank you! I’ll try this and see if they get any better:)
